]]>To legally identify yourself, you must carry your Emirates ID with you. And if you are married, your card must reflect the changes in your identity. This is especially true for women who change their last names after marriage.
By UAE law, all individuals who are legally residing in the UAE must possess an updated Emirates ID card by law. These include nationals, citizens of the GCC, expats, and residents. You can apply for it individually or as a group if you belong to one of these categories.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) highlights the need for citizens residing in the UAE to replace or update their Emirates ID cards after marriage. This is in light of the fact that some nationalities change the wife’s surname after marriage. Continue reading to understand how to update your Emirates ID in the UAE.
According to the ICP, if the wife’s surname hasn’t changed after marriage, the individual must visit an ICP-authorized customer service center and bring the required documentation for an Emirates ID update and in the Population Register Program.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP) mandates that any change to an Emirates ID card holder’s personal information must be reported to the applicable ICP department within one month of the modification’s effective date.
All nationals and foreign residents must pertain to these Emirates ID card-related rules.
In regard to updating your child’s ID, once they are 15 years old, the new information must be within 30 days on the Population Register Programme. The rule stands for Emirati and Gulf nationals, according to local media reports.
The ICP emphasizes that the data will update upon renewing residency. Thus, UAE citizens do not need to contact the ICP once their children turn 15 years old.
ICP notes that following printing, the identity card is sent to Emirates Post. After this, the client receives a notification via SMS that the Emirates ID card is ready for pickup. The collection point would be the post office previously specified on the registration form.
Once the Emirates ID information is updated and ready, it delivers the printed card to Emirates Post for delivery. After this, the client gets an SMS from Emirates Post requesting them to pick up their card. The venue of pick up will be the same as listed on their application. If a client does not pick up the Emirates ID within 90 days (3 months) of delivery, the Emirates Post returns the card to the Authority. The Authority then destroys. In this case, the client should submit an application for a new card and pay the necessary charge.
If you have any questions related to the Emirates ID update or wish to learn more about the process or requirements. Feel free to reach out to a business setup consultancy, that can assist you in making your renewal or application process smoother.
